To get started, we've compiled a list of 6 steps to help you kickstart healthy habits into your daily routine.

6 Steps to Kickstarting Healthy Habits

    Set A Goal

    The way you define the goal that you want to turn into a healthy habit is the most important step. Think of it as the foundation to your habit journey. Instead of saying you want to exercise regularly, tell yourself that you will exercise for 30min each day instead. The more specific you are with your goal, the easier it is to stick to.


  • 02

    Make a Plan

    Now that you have a goal in mind, it's time to plan how you will make this goal happen. Will you exercise everyday for 30 minutes, or will you exercise everyday for 30 minutes before you start work at 9am? A detailed, cue-based plan had been proven to help you make more progress.

    Make it Fun

    Anything is easier when you’re enjoying yourself! Research shows that you will achieve more if you focus on finding ways to make your goal as fun and enjoyable as possible. Continuing with our exercise example, find a gym buddy or a class that you enjoy rather than working out alone.

    Forgive Yourself

    Don’t be harsh on yourself if you’re having an off day and can't fulfill your daily goal. It happens, and doesn’t mean you need to start from ground zero again. However, successful habit building relies on frequent repetition, so if your goal becomes too brittle, the harder it is to get back on track. Forgive, forget, and continue on.

    Accountability

    Tell your family, friends or co-workers about your plans and goals and have them keep you accountable. Have them ask you questions about your goal, if you’ve achieved them, and how they can help. It’s the perfect motivation boost to keep you on route 66!

    Keep It Going

    Once you’ve reached your 66 day goal, don’t stop now! You have just made it to the habit stage where this goal has become a part of your daily routine. The more you keep it up, the easier it will continue to be.
